Ultra Portable Music for Outdoor Play

Ultra Portable Music for Outdoor Play

To be honest, I almost deleted the email asking me to review the iFrogz Tadpole. Most electronics, video games, and anything to do with screens run in opposition to the whole point of my blog. However, once I figured out that this gadget is all about the music then I was hooked.

This teeny-tiny speaker spells W-E-E-K-E-N-D. I pulled it out at a 4th of July pool party, played some Jack Johnson and got good reviews — even from musician friends who have better ears than me.  It’s not amazing sound, but pretty remarkable for only $20 in something so small and portable.

It says 3 hours of music on the packaging, but it looks like they’ve revised that to 2 hours on the website. Nevertheless, it’s long enough for just hanging out. The clip is a nice touch because you can clip it to a belt loop, backpack, purse (or I keep picturing them on overall straps!).  I can see bringing this to the school garden to make my mulch shoveling more enjoyable this summer. I also bring it to the beach because it’s big enough for me to hear over the waves, but small enough not to disturb my neighbors. You do need a phone or other Bluetooth device to PLAY the music and then wirelessly pair it with the speaker.

See how small it is? And it’s super-light, too. My only complaint is that I’m afraid of losing it. It’s easy to keep in a pocket in my purse – but I have a black backpack and I’ve lost track of it a couple times because it’s so small. It comes in lots of colors, so that could solve that problem. The carabiner is the touch that makes it easy to clip onto a key clip and keep track of it.
