Outdoor Wonder is the theme for this today’s playlist. I designed the last “Superheroes” playlist for the kids. This one’s more for the grown-ups. The songs may merely mention the ocean, the sun, or the elements – or tell a story about being outdoors and or getting outdoors.
Why I picked these songs?
- Ordinary Miracle: I’m already a fan of Sarah McLachlan. Now this song reminds me of the vivid presentation at the Vancouver Winter Olympics opening ceremonies.
- Talk of the Town: Jack Johnson always inspires me to laze around outdoors. Ahh, the words to this one are awesome.
- Nothing I Can Do: Ben Taylor shares a tale about when the morning first meets the sun.
- What If I: Deccatree, an OC band, starts this song with thoughts looking out “over our ocean.”
- Don’t Stop Now: Crowded House starts this tune on a perfect day in the countryside turning stormy.
- I Can See Clearly Now: When I mentioned this playlist idea to Dara, she immediately named this song.
- Walk Into The Sun: Dirty Vegas sounds a lot like my favorite band (Crowded House). This is the first of 3 sun songs.
- Soak Up The Sun: It never fails. I always hear this Sheryl Crow song when I’m inside. I feel an immediate need to get outdoors. Plus, I like her Sesame Street version of the song.
- Island in the Sun: Weezer extolls the virtues of outdoor time on vacation.
- The Outdoor Type: The Lemonheads finish out the playlist making fun of the whole premise of being an outdoor type.
Hope this inspires much fun!

Just had to add that Island in the Sun was sort of a theme song from my adventures to see polar bears in Canada. And Weezer's Dope Nose reminds me of our trip to see brown bears in Alaska. Hmm ... .-= Debi´s last blog ..My Big Explorer’s Favorite Hawaiian Adventures =-.
