Playing Outdoors on April 16th!

Playing outdoors on April 16th is a great way to get in some family time this weekend. The weather is going to be great and there’s so much going on in Orange County this weekend!  You could be playing from sun up to sundown. There  are special events happening at these locations this weekend, so make sure you visit THEIR websites for specific info.  We’ve actually played at all these places on non-event days, so I thought I’d link up to my posts about them so that you can plan a visit even if you can’t make it this Saturday:

Pretend City – Good to Go’s Family Fun and Wellness Fair
Parents have the opportunity to take action and bring their children to Good To Go From Head To Toe’s 2nd Annual Family Fun and Wellness Fair Saturday, April 16 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Pretend City Children’s Museum. The event features free developmental checkups, community and health-related activities, nutritious eating options, crafts, a Move and Groove dance competition, kids bands and lots of other opportunities for family fun.

Developmental checkups are head-to-toe assessments that ensure a child’s growth and development is progressing on track.  A startling number of children in OC do not receive developmental checkups as it is not part of a standard well-child visit. Free checkups available at the Family Fun and Wellness Fair are for children 0-5 and include hearing, speech and language, behavior, BMI, height and weight, blood pressure and dental. If a child visits all of the checkup stations, they will receive free admission, an $11 value, to Pretend City with purchase of an adult ticket to the museum.

A variety of health-related vendors including “The Parenting Doctor” Dr. Ann Corwin, UCI Pediatric Environmental Health, Help Me Grow Orange County, For OC Kids, Behavioral Health Works, Child Guidance Center, Early Literacy Program, Family Support Network, and United Cerebral Palsy will be some of the resources present. There will also be healthy foods available from Jamba Juice, Seabirds food truck, Lulu’s Café and Pangea Tea Company. The event is sponsored by OC Family Magazine, PBS So Cal, 92.7 Playlist and other community partners.

Date: Saturday, April 16th from 10am-3pm
Location: Pretend City is located at 29 Hubble in Irvine. Parking is available at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater with a complimentary shuttle to the museum.
