You may have seen my post about Pretend City housing an initiative called: “Good to Go from Head to Toe.” At the time I wrote that post, I hadn’t visited the museum yet. My kids were thrilled when we were invited to learn more about the initiative and the activities at the Museum.
Way to Play Days
In fact, we arrived on a Way to Play Day (2nd Friday of every month) where many families were taking part in skill building activities put on my partners in the study. Grab a “Way to Play Adventure Guide” which features tabbed sections based on your child’s age and correlated with the American Academy of Pediatrics milestones. It suggests ways to learn about your child’s development through play at the museum.
Parent Workshops
You’ll have to check the calendar for all the amazing workshops sponsored by the initiative. In March, there’s L.E.A.N. Start (Nutrition and Fitness) and COPEing with Toddler Behavior. Click to the Event Calendar tab from the main www.begood2go.org website to find out more and register for classes.
DON’T MISS the Family Fun and Wellness Fair on March 13th (FREE)
Mark your calendars now! The Pretend City parking lot will be transformed for a day of fun. The complimentary activities are:
- Language, dental, vision and speech screenings
- Live book readings
- Special appearance by Anaheim Ducks mascot, Wild Wing, and Street Team
- Obstacle course
- Arts & Crafts
- FREE admission to the fair all day, no sign up required. Children who earn three stamps on their “Good To Go Fun Card” by participating in at least three health screening stations will earn one free Pretend City Children’s Museum entrance (free museum entrance is valid on March 13, 2010 only).
This is an amazing resource for parents during your child’s first 5 years of life when they are reaching important developmental milestones. The initiative will be here for TEN years! So make sure you take advantage of the Way to Play Days, parent workshops, and the Family Fun and Wellness Fair on March 13th from 10am-4pm.
*We received a snack, goodie bag, and complimentary admission while researching this post. Link here to full disclosure policy.
