Holey Moley Golf Club & Hijinx Hotel at Irvine Spectrum

There is so much going on at the Holey Moley Golf Club & Hijinx Hotel in Irvine Spectrum that it feels like a grown-up playground. It's all fun! You can read this and be prepared OR just go and be surprised. (But probably make reservations first!)

It officially opens on December 12th, 2025.

Holey Moley Golf Club is described as: "a revolutionary mini golf experience, featuring 27 insane holes that blend crazy obstacles, neon lights, and a killer soundtrack into an unforgettable night out." It's colorful and the music is blasting. It's more of a bar with mini golf courses than the other way around. There are 3 nine hole courses that are insanely small. You get 6 shots per person per hole and need to stay in parties of 4 or less. Holes in one are possible here!

Hijinx Hotel is a social gaming experience and the first one opening in America. It's a "place to play, not stay." So: not a hotel. But the signature challenge rooms are: "an immersive world of challenge rooms where the beds are swapped for brainteasers, and the only things you’ll be checking in is your competitive streak and your inner child."

I'm keeping most of the surprises secret! I'm a big one for no spoilers when it comes to experiences like this since we have so few surprises these days, so I'm not going to share photos of the challenge rooms and the golf holes! It's so much more fun to be surprised!

Instead, I will try to cover the most asked questions so you can navigate getting here, the reservation system, and anything else you should know.

Where is Holey Moley Golf Club inside Irvine Spectrum?

Holey Moley Golf Club is right behind PF Chang's near the movie theater.

It's a great location near lots of restaurants and the Theater Parking Structure Valet Entrance. The official address is: 517 Spectrum Center Drive, Irvine, California. When we entered that into our nav system it brought us right to the location and it was obvious where to park.

Where is the best place to park?

Parking is free at Irvine Spectrum.

I always think this is an important question when you are going to Irvine Spectrum, because there are easy parking situations and hard ones. How much effort is it going to take to:

  1. Find and/or fight for a parking spot?
  2. Walk from found parking spot to desired location?
    • Does it require stairs?
    • An elevator?
    • Crowds?
  3. Get back to the car when I figure out I forgot something?

My favorite spot to park for Holey Moley Golf Club and Hijinx Hotel is the top of the parking structure right outside Wood Ranch BBQ (Theater Parking Structure). When you come up the ramp, you'll go to the furthest corner on your left near the bank of elevators. This aligns you with a fun 5 (or is it 6?) story elevator ride and the shortest walk to the venue. Yes, you will have to run the gauntlet of cars and parking structure craziness on your drive up through the structure but I'd much rather do that while driving than walking across the parking lot with kids in tow.

Valet parking is also available.

Can you reserve online?

Yes! I'd recommend reservations. Here are the websites:

  • Holey Moley Golf Club at Irvine Spectrum
  • Hijinx Hotel at Irvine Spectrum

You will be able to reserve both experiences through either link.

Be really sure about the reservation you are making and have a pretty concrete idea about the date and time you have in mind! They say: "We are able to change times and dates if you need to reschedule. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any refunds for cancellations."

These are all my very unofficial answers gathered from my in-person visit, making my own reservations, and reading their website.

What activities should you reserve?

Your choices at Irvine Spectrum are:

  • Mini golf
  • Challenge Rooms (Hijinx Hotel)
  • Karaoke

Mondays-Thursdays are less expensive than Fridays-Sundays. Under 21s are charged a little less than Adults.

For Mini Golf: You can choose between 9 holes (20 minutes), 18 holes (1 hour), and 27 holes (1 hour and 40 minutes) for the mini golf.

For Challenge Rooms: You can choose between 1 set (5 rooms at 30 minutes), 2 sets (10 rooms at 1 hour), or 3 sets (15 rooms at 1 hour and 30 minutes).

I think the best strategy is to book 9 holes of mini golf and 1 set of challenge rooms for your first visit. Then you get a taste of it all and decide if you like it and want to go back. And that way you aren't trying it all at once! It's enough! You'll probably spend around an hour and a half there just doing that.

And then arrive for your reservation 5-15 minutes early!

What's the age requirement?

When you make reservations, you will have to enter how many "Adults" in your party how many are "Under 21s." When making reservations it says that Under 21s require an Adult with them inside the venue and are not allowed in after 8pm, when entrance requirements switch to become 21+ only. In the House Rules, it says children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

As far as kids ages . . . all children seemed welcome regardless of age! I saw kids as young as 5 or 6 loving it. I do think some of the challenge rooms and golfing might be hard for kids much younger than that age.

Is the challenge room pricing per group? Or per person?

All pricing is PER PERSON when making reservations online, except for Karaoke which is per room. It will tally the total as you go, so you know what you will pay when you are done. You need to pay the full amount to make a reservation.

Also, "Holey Moley offers a separate rate for all guests with disabilities, along with any accompanying carers. Please contact them directly so we can assist with your booking."

How do groups work?

Reservations are typically for groups of 2-6 people. The website says to contact them for bookings of over 15 people.

Are the challenge rooms different?

There are 15 challenge rooms available to book as a 5 room, 10 room, or 15 room sets. They are billed as being different and I think they are absolutely different by design, but I also think there were similarities in some of the games played.

Are there any discounts?

I was going to say: "no."

But I found that Irvine Spectrum offers a 15% coupon for the Mini Golf through the Retail Therapy app. Here is the info on the the deal which lasts through January 26th.

For Holey Moley: The offer says: "*Must book online at holeymoley.com with code RETAIL15HM. Applicable to golf only. Excludes online events. Valid at Irvine Spectrum Center location. Limit one offer per person, per coupon. Coupon must be presented at time of purchase. Not valid with any other offer."

For Hijinx Hotel: The offer says: "*Must book online at hijinxhotel.com with code RETAIL15HH. Applicable to challenge rooms only. Excludes online events. Valid at Irvine Spectrum Center location. Limit one offer per person, per coupon. Coupon must be presented at time of purchase. Not valid with any other offer."

Also, M-Th is less expensive than F-Sun.

Finally, on the website, there are walk-in deals for $40 date nights and Happy Hour.

What about the food and cocktails?

There are so many options right outside the doors for food and drink at Irvine Spectrum, but they do have a kids menu. Otherwise, the food is limited to shareables and burgers. Basically, bar food.

The photo above is a mocktail (no alcohol) called: Sugar Rush. If you like sour gummy candy you'll like the flavor: pineapple, lime, vanilla, and grenadine with a candy flag. Yes, that's a Fun Dip candy hanging from the side. Sugar Rush is right! There are lots of no alcohol options.

The signature cocktails served in funky glasses take up most of the menu space. Like I said at the top, it is definitely a bar first with fun games for the 21+ crowd, but also a fun daytime playground for families who want to play together.

There is no outside food or drink allowed. Also, no eating on the golf course or in the challenge rooms. We were able to bring our drinks around as we played the holes, though.

Anything else you should know?

The restrooms are all gender which made so much sense! I wish all restrooms were like this. The location is almost like a Jack & Jill bathroom with one entrance opening out into the bar at the mini golf area and the other entrance opening into the lobby of the hotel area.

They are very accommodating. There are stairs up to the challenge rooms, but also an elevator for accessibility. There are signs and reinforcements everywhere that you can ask a staff member for help.

For those who might be easily overstimulated, it's a bursting-with-color and loud-with-music space. There are quieter (by comparison) corners where you could take a break, like near the entrances or the front desk area.

You will probably have to wait at some point: either for the next hole of golf while someone plays or for your challenge room experience to start. It's a fun way to notice all the little details, puns, and "easter eggs" hidden in the decor. Even when you are up in the challenge rooms, you might have to wait in the hallway for the next room to be available.

The staff are amazing! Don't be shy. They are super friendly and trying to make your experience awesome. Have a chat and make sure you let them know how much you appreciate them.

Disclosure: Our first visit during the media preview on Saturday, December 6th was comped, but they are not paying for any media coverage and did not pay for this post. I wanted to write this up to answer your questions so you could know what to expect and decide if it works for your family. Of course, your experience will be different than mine so just take it as general advice! Even though we didn't pay the first time, I have made reservations to celebrate my own birthday there and will be paying our own way. So the cost seems worth it to me to celebrate a special occasion in a new way!
