National Park Peek: Yellowstone Birds

Welcome to my blog series called: National Park Peek where I share glimpses of YOUR national treasures.  When I thought of traveling to Yellowstone, I thought of grizzlies, wolves and bison. I never imagined all the Yellowstone birds I would see, but they grace my photo collection from our once-in-a-lifetime trip. The bald eagle (above) lives at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone — outside the entrance to the park. It’s an educational facility accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Her name is Isis.

This Great Horned Owl named Tegan also lives at the Discovery Center.

We did see an awesome Golden Eagle in the wild near Yellowstone Lake, but I was too busy watching it fly over us to get a photo. I’ll forever have a vision of it in my head.

Osprey’s were plentiful because of all the water. We saw many from a distance at the tops of trees:

But one day we were on our way to a swimming hole and the road was even with the tops of trees, so I caught this beautiful Osprey in action:

This Kildeer was in the mud at the base of Mammoth Hot Springs.

I’ll leave you with a little Robin who was puffed up when I was on a cold morning walk south of Yellowstone in Grand Teton National Park.
