Yay! I’m back. Did ya miss me? Hopefully, you didn’t even know I was gone.
For seven days:
- The TV remained OFF.
- The laptop stayed FOLDED.
- My social media duties had to WAIT. (Thanks to Dara!)
And apart from a few e-mails and random tweets (totaling maybe 20 minutes of my entire week), the whole family enjoyed a tech free “vacation” at Lake Tahoe. Now . . . I say “vacation” in quotes, because we actually participated in the Family Nature Summit which was so full of nature activities that I need a vacation from our vacation.
It was one of those trips that have a profound effect on the way you move forward in life. My kids had an absolute blast! Their classroom moved outdoors where the learning became hands-on. The people we met were incredible – and incredibly knowledgeable – which made everyday an educational experience.
I’ll share more over the coming weeks, but just wanted to share a bit of the beauty and say “thanks” for sticking around while I was away. I can’t wait to share some of the cool stuff I learned.
*My son placed as runner-up in an essay contest to attend this Summit for which he was awarded free registration for himself and ONE parent. We paid all travel expenses for the family, plus registration for myself and daughter. In other words, no compensation was received for this post or any of the posts which are sure to follow!

So much happened at the Family Nature Summit that I couldn't fit it all into one post. "Where to Begin?" is a post about my Junior Naturalist's experiences. Keep checking back under the Nature Play Club tab -->Family Nature Summits to read more. Thanks for commenting.

Wonderful pictures, Michelle - you've really captured the beauty & the essence of Lake Tahoe! And I can't think of a better place for a tech-free "working" vacation! :-)
