My first experience with rock stacking art was on the shores of Stanley Park in Vancouver almost 20 years ago now. It’s a most beautiful use of nature. I didn’t remember the effect it had on me until I spotted this small installation near the Ocean Institute in 2008:
This was small in comparison to a big surprise greeting us on one of our sunset trips to the beach:
The patience, the artistry, the wonder it inspires!
There’s usually no sign of the artist. No signature. Just the structures for all to enjoy until the wind or waves knock them over.
Big art inspires little hands to create something different, something peaceful:

[...] Take Art Outside. Not your cousin, Art. No! I’m talking about paints and canvas. You can even just introduce a paintbrush and a cup of water. See what the kids decide to paint! We like to make sculptures out of rocks, fairy houses out of bark and leaves, or even “gardens” in beach sand using seaweed and driftwood. we stumbled across one such art installation at the strands, and I was so amazed. Great post! The pictures are fun to see all the different variations of them.
