Gift Yourself

Gift Yourself

“What do my readers need today?” It’s the question I ask myself when I schedule out my blog posts. It’s an exercise in making assumptions. For instance, I’m assuming that you’re all pretty busy and not really looking for a park. I’m assuming you don’t have much time, or even the desire to cruise through blogs today.

And if you assume I’m ready to unplug for a few days and play even more with my family, then you’d be right. I even get to spend time with my very spry 99 year old grandma over the next few days.

Whether you’ve just finished up your holidays or you’re just getting started, I think it’s time to gift yourself with some fresh air experiences:

  • Go outside and lean against a tree. Look up at the sky through the branches. Watch the leaves twirl in the breeze.
  • Find a nice span of lawn and stretch out on your back. Watch the clouds float by.
  • Sit in your yard, on your patio, or deck and close  your eyes. Listen.
  • Rake beach sand with your fingertips as you watch the sun setting over a winter ocean.
  • Take a leisurely stroll and hold hands with someone you love.
  • If the weather isn’t great where you live, check out these Nature and Play Resources for all sorts of great ideas.

I’ll be thinking of you all and hoping you get to sneak in a few quiet moments this weekend.
