January is a dumb time for New Year’s and resolutions! As a mom, I’m exhausted. I can’t think past all the holiday festivities, winter vacation, and family get-togethers.
My youngest is in 2nd grade now and I realized that September is my new January! I’m ready to see what I can accomplish in the next 10 months. I’m ready to set some goals and squeeze everything I can into my relatively short, sweet life.
It’s also a time to make sure that the things we really value as a family have a place in the kids scheduled school year lives.
I resolve to:
- X off days on our calendar every month where our schedule is to NOT have a schedule.
- Discover new nature places that fit the evolving requirements of my growing kids.
- Purposefully take myself out of my comfort zone (not “purposely” — there’s a difference).
- Say “no.”
- Write like everything depends on it. (I could also call this “finish travel books” but that sounds lame.)
- Play.
- Empower parents.
- Finish my course to become a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) by the National Association for Interpreters.
- Launch beta version of NaturePlayClub.com membership site. Stay tuned.
- Camp more.
- Give gratitude for the many amazing people in my life.
- Learn something new every day.
- “Simply wake up a better person than when I went to bed.” -Sidney Poitier

This is great... September is a great time for evaluating what you want out of life and a fantastic time to start new habits to go along with the routine of school etc.

Great goals. I'm too tired from summer fun to think about resolutions right now, but there is something about the change in seasons that makes one want to reevaluate. I could basically copy your list (especially #5, but maybe not #6- I do have a BS in Natural Resource Interpretation, does that count?). Nothing like putting it on the web to make you accountable!

I'm exactly the same! I always redefine my goals, look at my schedule, try to reorganize things every September.
